  Trifield

Meridian’s exclusive Trifield technology blends the centre and surround channels seamlessly with the left and right channels to deliver a consistent, concert-like experience, optimised for all seating positions.

  Trifield 3D

Building upon the proven Trifield technology, Meridian Trifield 3D is a world’s first technology that adds dedicated height channels located in the roof lining to provide a realistic portrayal of image height to the musical performance. The Meridian™ 1,700W Signature Reference System also has dedicated seat back centre loudspeakers located in the front seats to provide rear seat passengers with their own centre channel reproduction.

  Seat Back Centre Loudspeakers

A loudspeaker module containg two midrange speakers and one tweeter in the rear of each seat back recreates the centre channel output for the rear seat passengers using Trifield processing technology.

  Meridian Cabin Correction

Meridian Cabin Correction technology optimises the audio system by measuring the acoustic time domain of the cabin and correcting the low frequency response preserving the timing and natural rhythm of a musical performance ensuring that bass notes to be reproduced cleanly.

  Digital Dither Shaping

Meridian Digital Dither Shaping is based upon psychoacoustic research to arrive at critically calculated noise shaping filters which provides an incredibly silent background to the recordings improving dynamic range and maximising musical detail.

“Jaguar’s concept C-X17 SUV (sports utility vehicle), which was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show this afternoon, features a 3D in-car surround system developed by Meridian. The British hi-fi specialist worked closely with Jaguar’s engineers to develop the 28-speaker system for the prototype Jaguar C-X17’s interior. It uses Meridian’s Trifield 3D technology to create ‘3D surround sound’ for everyone in the cabin.

Speakers are integrated into the car’s A and B pillars to bring them up to passengers’ ear height, while the subwoofer is set within the rear centre tunnel to provide ‘a more consistent and accurate bass response for all passengers’, Meridian says. There are also four additional speakers set into the head restraints.”

“Jaguar teased us that there would be a modular aluminum vehicle revealed at the Frankfurt auto show. But then they tricked us and revealed the vehicle today before the show. The Jaguar C-X17 crossover does indeed Evoque a certain image to us from corporate cousin Range Rover. But the architecture is distinctly different.

What we do know is our friends at Meridian have installed the most badass automotive sound system in the C-X17 that the company has performed to date. Below are the technical specifics and information from Meridian. We are very excited to hear it in real life- hopefully the C-X17 will be at a stateside auto show.

The unique Interactive Surface Console brings interior automotive design right into the modern age, running the length of the car’s centre tunnel, and made up of a series of interconnecting touch-screens, the Surface Console connects rear passengers with the driver and front seat passengers via a secure in-car Wi-Fi network, so occupants can upload pictures, video and sound files from their mobile devices and share them with their fellow passengers as well as on all social media channels.
